We stayed here for two nights this past weekend (5/23, 5/24) and we loved it! The building is historic and there are updates where they are needed, but they were able to keep the historic feel! My husband and I stayed in the Elvis room which was beautifully decorated. We added photos (the photos were taken when we were leaving, so bed wasn’t made and dirty towels were on floor.). The bed was comfortable and pillows were fluffy. One drawback was being on the third floor, in South Texas, the A/C unit didn’t seem to be able to keep up. But that is a common problem in South Texas. When we got there, our key was waiting for us at the front desk, there was no one to greet us, but they explained that in the introductory email, don’t wasn’t a surprise. Parking was a little tricky, but if you follow their carefully written instructions, there will be no problem. The only drawback is that I wish there was someone at the desk to help give suggestions for the wings to do or places to eat. This was was a beautiful hotel and a wonderful stay!

We loved our stay at this historical, beautiful hotel in Gonzales. Maggie the manager was the highlight with recommendations around town, delicious home cooked breakfast and great hospitality. It’s a boutique hotel with each room decorated uniquely and with such attention to detail throughout the hotel. It’s a living museum and hidden gem in Gonzales. We are looking forward to returning, soon!

Talk about local hospitality! This hotel is so historic feeling, filled with the ultimate southern touch. Once inside, you feel like you are staying in a big, homie castle. If you want the ultimate western, local experience..this is the place. The people who work here, make it super special with homemade breakfast in the morning. It is filled with a beautiful collection of vintage pieces that really take you back in time and make you feel like you stepped into a Time Capsule. Can’t get this unique experience at any chained owned hotel.

We needed a place to stay for a last minute trip to Round Top where everything was booked. I'm so thankful we came across this little gem. Maggie is super attentive and very kind. The hotel is historic and full of charm but don't let that fool you! Our suite included two tvs, Keurig, fridge/freezer and microwave. The bed was very comfortable and I wish I could have brought the pillows with me. The living room was equally comfortable with more than adequate seating. Overall the property is extremely clean and located on the city square so walking distance to dining, bars, theatre and shopping. The vibe is more intimate than a hotel, but large enough to not be a BNB. Loved our stay here and highly recommend!

Our room was so clean. The bed was so comfortable and it smelt so comforting. I will actually absolutely come back to this hotel. My room was nice. It was spacious. I cannot tell you how wonderful the linens are. These are good quality linens. If you know, you know, I highly recommend staying here. This place is fabulous.

Hosted a retreat the first weekend of April and it was amazing. The rooms were wonderful and unique. The coffee shop was the right choice in the morning for our group. Maggie was very accommodating and made the girls so happy with all the choices. We used the room off the kitchen, bar area and kitchen all weekend and it was nice to have our own space. It is a very family friendly place that is unique and the personal touch Maggie provides puts it over the top! Not to mention the town itself has a lot of history and some wonderful places to eat! Come and Crepe It and Come and Take It Grill are my favorites!

Hidden gem! The Alcalde hotel is charming and full of history. They had decorated it for the holidays and we were pleasantly surprised by the cute coffee shop. The most notable thing for us was the incredible service. We had a very early morning departure and staff was up before us to make sure we had fresh coffee, yogurt, and fruit. We stayed the night in a recently renovated room with two queen beds that was beautifully decorated. Highly recommend you support this historic hotel and local business a chain.

07/04/25 Stayed in a “Basic” room with a rustic Texas decor, complete with long horns and horse shoes, very comfortable bed with clean bathroom. Nice breakfast with donuts, fresh fruit and more. Staff are very nice and welcoming! The only suggestions that I would make is to provide TV guide instructions in the room and add a variety of tea bags for hot tea, because not everyone drinks coffee.
